For Far Cry 4, the original recommended Windows OS was Windows® 7 (SP1) / Windows® 8 / Windows® 8.1 / (64-bit only) and DirectX 11, so you may personally have a better experience with the game, emulating these settings through Windows Compatability mode, via the games .exe file, under Properties, then checking the Compatability tab.
Solution is simple; Install Farcry to a folder other than the default, for example C:\Games\FarCry1. Press CTRL + ALT + DELETE to go the task manager and go to the start-up tab. then reboot and try the game again. you can then go back and re enable those by going back in task manger. if its still not working.
#1 Just bought the original FarCry from GOG, installed it and started it up and was letting do the graphics settings auto detect.
