Yes, I play solo for both sides. One thing that makes that a tiny bit easier is that the die rolls dictate the choices you can and cannot make, so instead of having the whole field of choices, there are a few restrictions. This gives you a little bit of guidance.

First, don't get fooled by thinking this is 2-player game, the multiplayer aspect just enhances the depth of the choices in game. I wouldn't play this 1v1. Second, the sculpts are vastly different so don't believe the haters. Not once have I mistaken the different factions: I do not even keep the minis separate.
